CUPW Show of Strength at Canada Post HQ / Grande manifestation du STTP devant le siège social de Postes Canada
On Thursday, CUPW rallied at Canada Post Headquarters in Ottawa. They were joined by allies in the labour and social justice movements. Standing in solidarity, they sent a strong message to the Crown Corporation:
We’re ready to continue negotiations, but we can’t bargain with ourselves. Where is Canada Post?
Hundreds turned out.
We’ve now been on strike for two weeks against an employer that won’t compromise after more than a year of negotiations. As a Crown corporation, Canada Post must lead by example and not engage in a race to the bottom with multinational corporate giants. Yet, it refuses to drop its rollback demands that will create a second class of workers and undermine good, full-time jobs.
We’re fighting for good collective agreements that meet the needs of postal workers.
We’re fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, the right to retire with dignity, and the expansion of public postal services.
We’re fighting to protect and strengthen our public post office so we can provide a world-class service to people across this country, now and into the future.
Postal workers love their jobs and want to get back to serving the public. Canada Post must come back to the table, shelve its plans to gigify the workforce, and bring us fair proposals that meet the needs of our members and for all communities.
We are 55,000 strong, and together we are unstoppable!
