ELECTION OF LOCAL 560 DELEGATES TO NATIONAL AND REGIONAL CONFERENCE

The delegates from our Local, along with delegates from all Locals of the Ontario Region will be electing 3rd National Vice-President, National Union Representative – External Organizing and 1 Regional Discipline Committee – 3rd Alternate.
As per the National Constitution:
1.07 The status of a member in good standing enables the member in good standing to:
(d) represent the Union or Local as a delegate;
As per the Local’s Bylaws:
9.3 A Member must have attended 2/3rds of the meetings during the past twenty-four (24) months prior to the date of the election to be eligible to stand for election.
9.4 Superannuated Members will not take part in the nomination, election or delegation.
ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE ADDRESSED TO AND RECEIVED BY THE LOCAL SECRETARY-TREASURER BY NOON, THURSDAY MARCH 31ST, 2022 (email nominations are accepted at agoveas@cupw560.ca)
**Please note that if you do not meet the requirement of article 9.3, you can still be nominated in case we do not receive a nomination for an eligible candidate**
The election will take place at the General Membership Meeting on Saturday April 2nd,2022 via ZOOM
Local Draft By-Laws will be posted for review March 22nd, as there have been some changes to address member concerns and some corrections made.
Due to Provincial and Municipal Guidelines the Local are not able to have meetings as normal.
However, given our Constitutional obligations, we have spent some time determining the best way to keep everyone informed while following the various Public Health Policies now in effect.
To this end it has been decided to hold our monthly General Membership Meetings via video conferencing using the ZOOM platform.
This software is free for you, the member, to use although as this will be over the internet some data charges may apply.
As these meetings are to be private, we ask for those interested in attending to register in advance. Only one registrant per device (no group callers/speakers).
During the meeting, please leave your camera off until recognized by the Chair, thankyou.
