Today, December 6, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) received Canada Post’s response to our counter proposals presented through the government-appointed Special Mediator on December 4, 2024. True to their pattern, Canada Post has given the Union documents late Friday, requiring the Union to work through the evenings, nights and weekend while they go home with their full pay.
Once again, CUPW Negotiators and National Executive Board will review the Corporation’s proposals, before responding through the Special mediator.
Given the recent movement, we are wondering when the mediation process will officially start again. CUPW remains fully committed to returning to the bargaining table to secure good collective agreements that provide good jobs and strong public post office.
On behalf of the members of the negotiation committees, we want to send thanks and solidarity to all of you out on the picket lines.
We feel your energy and support here in Ottawa – having your strength behind us makes a huge difference! We’re not there yet, but we are starting to see some movement.
In Solidarity,
Jan Simpson
National President
