The Local per changes in the National Constitution is required to have three trustees, as we currently have only two trustees we are holding nominations for this position and will hold the vote at our January Membership meeting.
NOMINATION FOR LOCAL TRUSTEE
The local is holding an election to obtain a 3rd trustee for the Trustee Committee.
In accordance with Article 8.1 & Article 5.9 of the Local Bylaws, this is to advise all Members that the Local is now receiving Nominations for the following Position(s); Trustee Committee
Nominations must be in writing & forwarded to Sister Amanda Goveas, Secretary-Treasurer via email, no later than closing on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in accordance with Article 8.1 of the Local bylaws.
- Article 8.1 – The Local Secretary-Treasurer shall receive nominations in writing for elections as per Article 8.2 of the Local Bylaws, no later than thirty (30) days prior to the elections.
To be eligible to stand for election, you must have met the requirements of article 8.3(a) & 8.4 of the Local bylaws, which read as follows.
- Article 8.3(a) – A Member must have attended at least 2/3rd’s of the meetings during the past twenty-four (24) months prior to the date of the election in order to be eligible to stand for election.
- Article 8.4 – Superannuated Members will not take part in the nomination, election or delegation.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENT OF ARTICLE 8.3(a), YOU CAN STILL BE NOMINATED IN CASE WE DO NOT RECEIVE ENOUGH NOMINATIONS FROM ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES.
Article 13 Trustees
- Article 13.1 – The Trustees shall consist of three (3) members in good standing.
- Article 13.2 – The trustees shall meet & examine the books of the local every six (6) months & may have additional meetings at their discretion, to verify if the expenses are in accordance with the by-laws and with the decisions adopted by the Executive Committee and/or the general membership meeting.
- Article 13.3 – The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees may call any additional meetings at their discretion, with a report submitted at the next general membership meeting. The National Secretary-Treasurer may also call such meetings.
