The Moosehide Campaign:
WHAT IS MOOSE HIDE CAMPAIGN DAY?
Founded in 2011 by Paul and Raven Lacerte, the Moose Hide Campaign began as a grassroots initiative along British Columbia’s Highway of Tears—a region marked by the tragic disappearance and murder of many Indigenous women and girls. The campaign encourages men and boys, alongside all Canadians, to commit to ending gender-based violence. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
On May 15, 2025, individuals and communities can engage in several meaningful activities:
➢
Wear a moose hide pin to show solidarity and spark conversations about ending violence
➢
Join a sunrise ceremony to start the day with intention.
➢
Participate in a day-long fast from sunrise to sunset, reflecting on the commitment to end violence.
➢
Attend virtual workshops and a national livestream featuring keynote speakers Elaine Alec and Michael Kaufman, who will discuss pathways to healing and prevention. Register for Moose Hide Campaign Day – Moose Hide Campaign
➢
Organize or join a local walk or community event to raise awareness and foster community engagement.
Registration is free and open to everyone. You can sign up, order moose hide pins, or find local events through the official campaign website: moosehidecampaign.ca
CUPW encourages its members to take action this coming May 15th to prevent all gender-based violence, especially that faced by Indigenous women, children and 2-spirit people.
