EARTH DAY 2025: PROTECT OUR PLANET, PROTECT OUR KIDS

Postal workers are well aware that the planet is getting hotter. More and more, we are facing extreme events – such as an increasing number of wildfires with their toxic smoke, lethal heat domes and atmospheric rivers bringing more rain, more coastal storms and more flooding. But it’s children who are most at risk.
Climate Change Threatens our Children
Children aren’t responsible for the climate crisis – but they are already paying the price. They face heat sickness, respiratory issues from wildfires and pollution as well as an increased risk of infections from the spread of insect-borne diseases. They are losing loved ones and homes. Living with the constant threat of catastrophic weather events is taking a toll on children’s mental health – and it’s only going to get worse.
Postal Workers Pushing for Change
Postal workers are taking climate action and pushing for better. We have been advocating for a greener, more sustainable post office which includes electrifying more of our fleet, one of Canada’s biggest, and calling for more ev charging at our post offices. As well, we’re keeping the pressure on Canada Post to improve health and safety as we face these increasingly dangerous working conditions – whether we’re working outside in communities or in buildings without proper cooling. We all want to ensure that we get home safely to our families at the end of our shifts.
Make every day, Earth Day
Now is the time to recommit to protecting the planet. Reduce, re-use, recycle. There’s no time to waste!
